About The Position

AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges. This might involve guiding customers as they refactor an application or designing entirely new cloud-based systems. The Amazon EC2 Solutions Architecture team was created to make sure customers can deploy the most scalable, and most performant Compute architectures possible. You’ll play an important role as an advocate with our service teams to make sure we are building the right products. The team is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for helping customers optimize their workloads using Amazon EC2 Spot Instances. As an EC2 Spot Solution Architect (SA), you will work with customers globally, partnering closely with engineering, business development, and technical field teams to drive the adoption of EC2 Spot for fault-tolerant and flexible compute workloads. You will also play a key role in launching and scaling Spot for GPU, a new service that extends Spot pricing to GPU-accelerated instances for machine learning training, inference, and high-performance computing workloads. The EC2 Spot SA will develop white papers, blogs, reference architectures, and presentations that enable customers and partners to understand Spot pricing models, interruption handling strategies, and best practices for maximizing cost savings. The EC2 Spot SA will also help drive enablement initiatives to continually develop the best technical field teams in the industry. As an EC2 Spot SA you will work with SA and GTM peers who are responsible for the WW Compute GTM programs that drive the adoption of EC2, EC2 Mac, Graviton, AMD and Intel chips.

Requirements

• Experience implementing a cloud-based technology solution, or experience developing or delivering training programs across multiple sites or regions
• Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
• 7+ years designing, implementing, operating, and consulting on distributed applications (cross-AZ/cross-region), including running containers at scale with orchestration technologies such as EKS, ECS, and Karpenter
• Proficiency debugging and troubleshooting applications developed in Java, Ruby, Python, C/C++, Go, or Rust
• Technical acumen with the ability to understand customer IT landscapes, identify opportunities, overcome technical obstacles, and influence AWS adoption aligned with business requirements

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a client facing consultative role working with large, complex enterprise customers
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
• AWS certification, such as, AWS Solutions Architect, or a similar cloud certification
• BS degree in computer science or equivalent, or 4+ years of technical work experience

Responsibilities

• Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
• Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
• Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.
• Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best in class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
• Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide.
• Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate AWS solutions into customer architectures.
