About The Position

The Sr. Specialist, Sourcing & Product Development position involves supporting product development activities from concept through commercialization, working closely with Manager and Director leadership. This role requires partnering with the Private Brand Product Management team to manage product briefs, timelines, and launch readiness. Key responsibilities include assisting with product specifications, packaging details, item documentation, and tracking development milestones. The specialist will also coordinate with suppliers on samples, specifications, costing, and timelines, and support supplier onboarding. Maintaining accurate records, compiling data for analyses, and escalating risks are also part of the role. Furthermore, the position supports supply chain execution by coordinating with various internal teams, tracking lead times, and identifying supply risks. Adherence to established processes, documentation maintenance, and supporting quality assurance and regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, FSMA) are crucial. The role also emphasizes professional development, active participation in team learning, and contributing to a collaborative team culture. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Food Science, Marketing, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing, product development, retail, CPG, or related roles (internships included).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with basic supply chain concepts or product development processes.
  • Experience or coursework related to CPG, private brands, or retail merchandising.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.

  • Exposure to packaged food, consumer goods, or supplier interaction in the convenience channel.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development activities from concept through commercialization under the guidance of Manager and Director leadership.
  • Partner with the Private Brand Product Management team to support product briefs, timelines, and launch readiness tasks.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining product specifications, packaging details, and item documentation.
  • Track development milestones and help ensure key deliverables are completed on time.
  • Support SKU maintenance activities such as reformulations, packaging changes, and discontinuations.
  • Assist with supplier communications related to product samples, specifications, costing, and timelines.
  • Support supplier onboarding activities, including documentation collection and internal coordination.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records, product files, and cost information.
  • Help compile data for cost comparisons, supplier evaluations, and sourcing analyses.
  • Escalate risks, delays, or issues to Manager-level leadership.
  • Support supply chain execution for private brand items by coordinating with Supply Chain, Inventory Planning, and Operations teams.
  • Assist with tracking lead times, MOQs, production schedules, and launch readiness.
  • Help identify potential supply risks and support mitigation efforts.
  • Support smooth handoffs from development to ongoing replenishment.
  • Follow established sourcing and product development processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Help maintain documentation related to: New item development, Specifications and change management, Supplier onboarding and compliance.
  • Assist with process documentation updates and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize tools, templates, and systems accurately to support team efficiency.
  • Support Quality Assurance and Regulatory teams with documentation related to FDA, USDA, FSMA, and internal quality standards.
  • Assist with label reviews, allergen documentation, certifications, and audit preparation.
  • Help track corrective actions and follow-ups with suppliers as needed.
  • Uphold private brand quality, safety, and compliance expectations.
  • Expand foundational knowledge of sourcing, product development, and supply chain principles.
  • Actively participate in training, onboarding, and team learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, detail-oriented, and accountable team culture.
  • Take on increasing responsibility as skills and experience grow.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines and revenue forecasts.
