Work Shift: 7:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday The Target Pay for this position is $93,000 - $115,000 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget. Job Purpose The Specialist – Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) ensures compliance with regulatory standards while proactively identifying and mitigating risks. The EHS Specialist fosters a culture of safety, ultimately safeguarding our people, our communities, and the sustainability of our business within an assigned geographic area in North America. Works with limited supervision, reporting to the Sr. Program Manager, Environmental and Occupational Safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational/ industrial safety, or other related field of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience.
  • Strong familiarity and experience with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
  • Have or ability to obtain CPR/ First Aid/ AED trainer certification.
  • Ability to instruct RCRA/ DOT training for employees is highly desired.
  • Ability to perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).
  • Knowledge and skills to manage regulated medical and chemical waste programs.
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Master of influencing without authority.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Regulatory knowledge across North American region (U.S. and Canada)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and deliver award winning support solutions in a dynamic, high growth business.
  • Ability to work remotely at times with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to translate creative ideas into strategic and business logic to all levels of the organization, from executives to front line employees.
  • Adept with common industry performance indicators for EHS, technology trends and developments.
  • A solid understanding of data analytics to drive to find innovative ways to improve processes and services.
  • Independent, high energy, and a proven ability to drive results under pressure and in the face of ambiguity.
  • Effective reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Prefer experience with EHS solutions for diagnostic laboratories, preferably veterinary.
  • Prefer experience with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and enforcement bodies.
  • Prefer experience with radiological and laser safety programs.
  • Prefer experience with EHS programs related to zoonotic exposures.
  • Prefer experience with biological safety programs and equipment
  • Ideagen Quality Management Software knowledge preferred.
  • Fluency in the French language is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular internal audits that include hazard identification and mitigation measures to proactively address EHS concerns.
  • Maintain record-keeping practices to track safety incidents, inspections, training and compliance documentation.
  • Contribute to and/or lead investigations into workplace and environmental safety incidents, violations, and inquiries ensuring a root cause analysis and timely resolution.
  • Participate in the establishment, review and revision of Standard Operating Procedures and EHS Program documents.
  • Prepare and perform EHS specific training.
  • Prepare bi-weekly reports for individual productivity and quality matrixes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
