About The Position

This role is specifically designed to ensure the successful ramp-up of the Battery and Powertrain Systems for the electrified Range Extender project, with a clear focus on overseeing the purchasing-related change-management process. The Battery Cells Purchasing Specialist will lead supplier development and industrialization activities for Battery Cells suppliers in North America. Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams by participating in project readiness meetings to confirm readiness for Battery Cells launch. Act as a program manager during the pre-production phase, ensuring that all supplier industrialization activities meet project requirements in terms of timing, cost, and quality. Evaluate, negotiate and apply technical changes to parts or services, ensuring that cost, quality, and delivery objectives are met. Lead cross-functional evaluations of suppliers’ readiness for mass production together with Scout’s Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams. Prepare and execute negotiated contractual documents and nomination adjustment agreements. Lead RFQ processes, supplier selection, cost analysis, and nomination decisions. Conduct commercial negotiations to secure competitive pricing, terms, and long-term supply conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related financial field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment, preferably in a Project or Series Buyer role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a purchasing environment, including responsibility for developing and executing procurement or commodity strategies.
  • Effective negotiation experience specific to automotive commodity purchasing.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to work independently, and operate in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of automotive, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • A reputation for developing and nurturing excellent stakeholder and supplier relationships.
  • Experience managing supplier performance.
  • Program management experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and executing Scout’s North America Battery Cells purchasing and supply strategy for all REEV (Range Extender Electric Vehicle) production in the region.
  • Sourcing and securing supply for Battery Cells for Scout’s REEV products in North America.
  • Leading supplier development and industrialization activities for Battery Cells suppliers in North America.
