About The Position

L3Harris Space Superiority Group is hiring an Integration & Test Engineer for its AgileEO Metrology, Integration & Test department in Wilmington, Massachusetts. AgileEO develops space-based small-aperture visible and infrared telescopes with integrated electromechanical devices for motion and focus control. The engineer will support a newer program and its technical leads, including the Lead or Chief Systems Engineer and IPT Lead, by conducting technical analysis, managing specifications, preparing design-review and technical documents, and supporting test and design verification, requirements sell-off, and end-item data package generation. The position involves developing and integrating electro-optical systems for space applications; leading technical execution and coordinating multidisciplinary teams; managing Mission Payload Flight Assembly, Integration, and Test activities and major subcontract cost, schedule, and performance; and planning and conducting testing and validation. The role also includes requirements management, technical documentation and reporting, trade studies, stakeholder communication, standards compliance, process improvement, and training and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific discipline and 6 years of relevant space-based EO/IR systems engineering experience; alternatively, a graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience, or at least 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in optical and electro-optical testing techniques and equipment, with experience in optical design, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems.
  • Strong understanding of system integration processes and best practices.
  • Familiarity with space environment considerations and testing protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint, and relevant engineering and simulation software such as MATLAB.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a record of addressing complex engineering challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Space systems engineering experience, including knowledge of space environments, satellite systems, and space mission design.
  • Familiarity with NASA-STD-1540 and/or NASA-STD-7002.
  • Experience leading technical teams, managing projects and competing priorities, and coordinating cross-functional engineering activities.
  • Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and systems engineering tools such as DOORs, CAMEO, CREO, JIRA, and SysML.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate advanced electro-optical systems for space-based applications, ensuring compliance with specifications and mission requirements.
  • Lead engineers and coordinate with program leadership to develop the technical plan and path forward for program execution.
  • Manage major subcontract cost, schedule, and performance, and oversee Mission Payload Flight Assembly, Integration, and Test activities.
  • Design, plan, and execute test procedures for electro-optical components and systems; analyze test data against requirements; troubleshoot issues; and implement corrective solutions.
  • Define, manage, and maintain system- and subsystem-level requirements, ensuring traceability and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams from conceptual design through final system delivery and operation.
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, procedures, work instructions, test reports, and anomaly reports.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies to support decision-making.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
