About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across the state. This hybrid (virtual/onsite) position requires onsite days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center in Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate, with relocation assistance available. The Senior Sourcing Manager leads complex, high-value sourcing initiatives and category strategies, focusing on cost optimization, risk mitigation, and supplier performance. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, bridging execution and strategy by translating business priorities into sourcing approaches and influencing cross-functional stakeholders. The position owns more complex categories and leads broader cross-functional initiatives, serving as a strategic partner to business leaders and playing a key role in strengthening supplier relationships, improving procurement processes, and delivering measurable business value. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle, including RFx processes and category strategy development.
Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to manage moderately complex to complex commercial agreements.
Knowledge of contract management, supplier performance, and risk mitigation.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with enterprise-wide procurement tools such as SAP, Ariba, Power BI, and ServiceNow.
Ability to influence stakeholders across functions and align competing priorities.
Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis, market intelligence, and financial evaluation.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with supplier management, negotiation, and analytical skillsets.
Ability to operate independently and manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or another related field, with four (4) or more years of experience with purchasing software and project management software. Experience leading complex sourcing initiatives and managing strategic supplier relationships. Proven experience influencing stakeholders across multiple functions.

Responsibilities

Lead sourcing initiatives for moderately complex to complex categories, including the development of sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives; conduct spend analysis, market benchmarking, and supplier evaluations to identify cost savings and value opportunities; use data to support sourcing strategies, supplier optimization, and performance improvements.
Execute RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs with increasing complexity, driving cost, quality, and performance improvements.
Support the development and evolution of category strategies with a longer-term, strategic focus.
Lead supplier negotiations for higher-value and more complex agreements, including terms, pricing, and risk mitigation; manage supplier relationships for key suppliers, addressing performance issues and driving continuous improvement.
Oversee contract execution and lifecycle management to ensure compliance, performance, and value realization; manage supplier relationships for key suppliers, addressing performance issues and driving continuous improvement.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Risk, Business Units) to align sourcing strategies and business outcomes; influence decision-making through data-driven insights, market intelligence, and sourcing expertise; provide guidance and recommendations to business leaders on sourcing approaches and supplier selection.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior sourcing professionals; share best practices and contribute to the development of sourcing capabilities within the team; participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve procurement processes and outcomes.
Support procurement frameworks, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sourcing effectiveness; ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and risk management standards.
