About The Position

Betterment is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer for its Product Engineering team, which builds the applications customers use while logged in to their Betterment accounts. The team develops software that supports customers through major financial events, including saving to buy a house and planning for retirement. This role collaborates with Mobile, Product, and Design to create customer experiences for saving and investing. It is based in Betterment’s New York City office, with a hybrid arrangement for NY-based positions: four days per week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays. The engineer will lead medium-to-large initiatives, deliver high-quality software iteratively, and balance innovation with application performance and security. The role also involves mentoring less experienced engineers, maintaining clean and tested code, and contributing to a collaborative, communicative environment. Production experience with AI coding tools and sound judgment about when and how to use them are expected. The listed New York City base salary range is $170,000–$195,000. The role may also be eligible for a company incentive bonus.
