About The Position

Waystation AI is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Redwood City, CA. This full-time, in-person role involves owning entire product areas end-to-end, with a focus on shipping customer-visible features weekly. Waystation AI is transforming the CPG market by automating procurement processes, turning supplier emails into a structured system of record. The company is seed-stage, venture-backed, and has paying customers in the bakery, supplement, and better-for-you brands sectors. The role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a market valued at trillions, working directly with a repeat founder and CEO.

Requirements

5+ years building production software with depth across the stack.
2+ years at an early-stage startup (seed to Series B).
Experience building product and caring about user experience.
Fluent in AI, including building with AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) and shipping reliable model-powered features.
Precise communication skills.
Ability to close messy problems from start to finish and flag slippage proactively.
Willingness to be 'all in' on a small team and commit to being in the office five days a week.

Nice To Haves

Experience in B2B SaaS in workflow-heavy industries.
Experience with email, documents, or messy unstructured data.
Experience in CPG, supply chain, or procurement.
Experience with search and retrieval.
Experience with multi-language data (Chinese, Spanish).

Responsibilities

Own whole product areas end to end.
Develop and manage supplier comparison, certification tracking, and quote workflows.
Build and maintain backend systems and user interfaces.
Ensure quality and reliability of shipped features, iterating to improve them.
Develop and integrate AI-powered features, including extraction, comparison, drafting, and retrieval.
Handle the unglamorous aspects of AI, such as evaluations, fallbacks, and addressing model errors.
Engage with customers to understand their problems and gather requirements.
Fix systemic issues rather than just symptoms when problems arise.
