About The Position

Supermicro is seeking a top-notch hands-on Sr. Software Engineer with exceptional networking software development experience to join our rapidly growing switch department. In this role, you will be involved in the design, development, and testing of switching software products. This position will be based at our headquarters in San Jose, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics or computer engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of extensive hands-on experience in networking software development.
  • Deep expertise in the data center networking with SONiC OS or similar.
  • Hands-on design and development experience in the Intent-based DC Controller or Network Observability & Automation software.
  • Experienced in design and development for the AI networking use cases: build & deploy backend, frontend, storage and HPC fabrics, fabric observability, fabric automation & troubleshooting.
  • node.js, next.js, JavaScript, go.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Active participation in team meetings and discussions.
  • Ability to receive and give constructive feedback
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving in cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • Agentic AI development experience preferred.
  • Full stack development.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end ownership of one or more apps in the Super Fabric Manager (SFM) software.
  • Understand and translate requirements into functional specs, design, implement, and review software.
  • Present and discuss design decisions clearly in team meetings.
  • Collaborate with technical leads and product managers to meet project goals.
  • Mentor teammates on best practices and architecture.
  • Actively join team discussions, share feedback, and use strong verbal skills to drive collaboration and clarity.
  • Build tools and scripts for continuous development and integration (CD/CI), software automation for the white box and black box testing, validate problem descriptions, perform detailed diagnostics, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation, create user guides and write up methodologies.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with internal customers (testing/Lab team as well as IT, Rack teams) and resolve technical issues.
  • Use excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to understand customer needs and explain solutions.
  • Take initiative to recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Share ideas and lessons learned with the team in meetings and retrospectives.
  • Build robust, secure, and scalable network solutions.
  • Collaborate with security teams as needed.
