About The Position

The Sr. Software Engineer will work on Microsoft Security’s Data Privacy Platform team, which builds and operates internal data privacy products and distributed systems for scanning, cataloging, classification, and data subject request processing. The team is extending its experience to develop privacy products for Microsoft and its customers. The role focuses on developing secure software, tools, and code for infrastructure, technology platforms, and applications, while meeting high standards for security and reliability. The engineer partners with stakeholders to understand feature requirements and use feedback to inform designs and fixes. They collaborate on testing and quality plans, use debugging tools, logs, and telemetry to identify issues, and apply best practices for scaling and performance. The role also emphasizes security, privacy, safety, accessibility, operational readiness, and adherence to Microsoft security policies and practices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
Must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
Must successfully verify the stated security clearance; clearance verification information is required before an offer of employment.
Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
U.S. citizenship must be verified due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
Recent working experience with backend engineering and software deployment.
Experience in high-security, regulated, or cloud environments.
