About The Position

Lively is seeking a strong Backend Senior Software Engineer, ideally located in the San Francisco Bay area or Denver Metro, to create deep and meaningful product engagement experiences. This role will focus on implementing and enhancing investment and financial products for an increasing user base. The engineer will be responsible for integrating seamlessly across financial institutions, moving funds, tracking balances, assisting with healthcare decisions, and ensuring data security. The applications are built using modern web technologies including HTML/CSS/Javascript/React, NodeJS/Typescript, PostgreSQL, Amazon Lambdas, and Kinesis. While comfortable contributing across the stack (UI to API to integrations to infrastructure), the focus will be primarily on backend development in a fast-paced, growing, and nimble environment, with the ultimate goal of improving users' lives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong backend development background
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience with Javascript, Typescript and Node.js.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of relational Databases (Postgresql, Mysql).
  • Proven experience in designing and developing scalable, high-performance web applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Proven experience on building backend services with high availability and scalability requirements.
  • Able to model and design intuitive and scalable schemas.
  • Experience with agile/scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for technology and a continuous learner mindset.
  • Motivated to leverage new AI tools and technologies.
  • Someone who isn't afraid of responsibility, a good sense of humor and a down-to-earth personality.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AWS cloud platforms and DevOps practices is a plus.
