Sr. Software Engineer (Backend)

Engineers have the opportunity to build systems and experiences that will be used by millions of people while working on the financial infrastructure supporting massive transaction volume. Requirements
- 3–8 years of professional backend software engineering experience
- Strong track record of independently driving projects to completion
- Experience building and operating production backend systems
- Experience working in fast-moving startup or high-growth environments
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership beyond narrowly defined responsibilities
- Comfortable continuously expanding scope and taking on additional responsibility
- Strong backend software engineering fundamentals
- Strong experience with Go or another modern backend language, with Go strongly preferred
- Experience building production APIs and backend services
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable architecture
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
- Experience with Kubernetes or containerized production environments
- Strong database and data modeling fundamentals
- Experience with testing, CI/CD, and engineering productivity tooling
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to design systems that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable
- Extremely high ownership and agency

Responsibilities
- Build Consumer-Facing Products
- Build backend systems powering consumer-facing products used by millions of users
- Develop features that directly impact core business and product metrics
- Own projects from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration
- Work closely with Product, Growth, Design, and Engineering to turn ideas into high-quality experiences
- Build reliable systems capable of supporting significant transaction and user volume
- Solve Difficult Technical Problems
- Design and implement solutions to complex data-driven problems
- Work on systems such as optimal matchmaking, anti-fraud, and other high-scale platform challenges
- Build services and infrastructure that support real-money consumer experiences
- Identify technical bottlenecks and opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability
- Make thoughtful architectural decisions as the platform and user base continue to grow
- Improve Engineering Velocity
- Improve engineering processes and systems so the team can ship faster
- Build and iterate on experimentation platforms
- Improve CI/CD and developer tooling
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering workflows
- Raise the technical bar through strong engineering practices, code quality, and thoughtful system design
- Take on increasing ownership as the company and engineering organization grow
Benefits
- $200,000 – $400,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications
