About The Position

Babel Street is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Analytics Group. This is an Individual Contributor role focused on building the next generation of architecture and components for their analytics platform. The role involves working with NLP algorithms, high-scale search engines, and data science techniques, with a specific focus on evolving record matching functionality. The company is looking for a technical expert with the potential to grow into a leadership position, who can help identify future technology directions and contribute to the development of new software for record matching. The record matching functionality is crucial for transforming Babel Street's signals into usable intelligence, ensuring customers can move from signal to insight with trust. The work involves building systems where match decisions are defensible, auditable, and tunable, especially in a multilingual context where linguistic insights can inform NLP and computational linguistics components.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in professional Java development.
• Proven expertise in designing scalable systems and robust APIs.
• Deep understanding of Elasticsearch internals, including performance tuning and data modeling.
• Strong communication and technical skills, with a passion for designing, building, and polishing innovative applications.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with computational linguistics or NLP.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience securing APIs and systems (auth, roles, and secrets management).

Responsibilities

• Create new architecture and components for the analytics platform, specifically driving the evolution of record matching.
• Research and prototype new technologies to improve platform performance and define the future technical path for components.
• Serve as the primary technical expert for key components, working closely with Product Management to identify and implement critical software improvements.
• Raise the bar for the team by mentoring junior engineers and participating in agile sprint and release planning.
• Design and deliver robust APIs and scalable architectures that integrate seamlessly into the broader AI-native platform.
