Sr Software Development Engineer, Aurora Serverless Control Plane
About The Position
Amazon Aurora Serverless is an on-demand, auto-scaling configuration for Amazon Aurora where the database automatically starts up, shuts down, and scales capacity up or down based on application needs, with no downtime. It enables users to run their database in the cloud without managing any database instances. This role is part of a fast-growing AWS service aiming to revolutionize the database business by building foundational platforms with web service APIs and workflows that ensure Aurora is highly available, scalable, reliable, and fast. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence product direction and database technology. This is a core systems development position where the engineer will grow to own the design and development of significant system software components critical to industry-leading, cloud-architected database services. The team architects, designs, and implements highly scalable distributed database systems providing availability, reliability, and performance guarantees. This is a hands-on role involving building robust components and mentoring other engineers. Success requires strong software development skills, a proven track record of delivery, and excellence in communication, leadership, and customer focus.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Nice To Haves
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
