About The Position

Provides relationship management support to the Small Business – 44 Business Capital division, specifically within SBA Lending. This role involves monitoring and servicing an existing portfolio of complex loans and borrowing relationships. The primary objective is to continuously evaluate operational and financial performance to maintain portfolio quality and risk rating accuracy. The position requires interaction with customers and bank employees to address credit and loan service-related matters effectively, and to assist Lending Officers in all aspects of customer servicing.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Business, Economics or Finance or 10+ years in a banking career including financial analysis or loan workout as a prerequisite.
  • Equivalent financial experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of small business loan closing, underwriting and/or loan servicing and/or equivalent related experience of ascending responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years SBA experience.
  • Credit Trained or equivalent level of experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Loan policy and proven ability to adhere to sound risk management/pricing practices as well as to all internal and external credit/regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to assess financial performance and risk including identifying ways to mitigate risk to the bank.
  • Solid working relationship with Credit Partners to ensure ongoing credit quality of portfolio.
  • Ability to prepare Credit Memos for all servicing requests including financial statement spreading.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to present identified issues and recommended solutions to RM/Senior Management/ORC/ELC as appropriate.
  • Ability to work as a member of team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Computer skills including web-based searches.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SBA SOP 5010 and 5057 commensurate with experience.
  • Developing well-rounded knowledge of products sold by internal partners including Cash Management, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail and Home Lending.
  • Continuing education in bank related courses.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Relationship Manager(s) (RM) with the management of a defined portfolio of existing Commercial Customers, who may have unique, challenging, or specialized banking needs requiring industry expertise (SBA).
  • Assists RM in the proactive management of the portfolio to ensure early detection of material changes in customer performance.
  • Manages all reporting delinquencies, including ongoing tracking via Baker Hill to ensure timely receipt of all financial, collateral, borrowing base, insurance, and documentation exception/post-closing information, including scanning information into Image Centre/FCM.
  • Completes Annual Reviews for relationships and periodic file memos.
  • Reviews and completes customer modification requests and waivers per policy under the direction of the FVP, Associate Credit Director – SBA, including all program and compliance required documentation, working with counsel when needed, sending documents for signature, and updating loan files with current financial documentation.
  • Enters Line of Credit advance/pay down requests in Salesforce or system, including customer verification and communication with ACD/wire approvers.
  • Ensures Credit File completeness in FCM.
  • Provides excellent customer service and resolves customer problems independently.
  • Conducts site visits/customer calls as assigned.
  • Reviews loan documentation with minimal guidance from RM.
  • Assists team with Loan Closings/Modifications and post-closing follow-up.
  • Develops solid working relationships with internal partners including Credit, Documentation & Loan Specialists, Risk Management, Cash Management, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Retail, and Home Lending, interacting with them with minimal supervision.
  • Mentors department staff as assigned and can provide supervisorial support to department manager as assigned.
  • Identifies cross-sell opportunities and makes solid product recommendations to meet customer needs.
  • Participates in networking/community involvement as assigned and congruent with X Team objectives.
  • Assists with special projects including Loan Review/Regulator Audit preparation, ongoing due diligence, industry research, and portfolio scrubs as needed.
  • Conducts Archer Testing as appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards.
