About The Position

Amazon Leo is seeking an experienced Senior Satellite Test Engineer to architect test infrastructure and manage satellites through their lifecycle, from initial build and functional testing to spacecraft validation, ultimately enabling the integration and launch of thousands of satellites. This role offers a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment working with thought leaders across various technology areas. The ideal candidate will possess relentlessly high standards, a drive for continuous improvement, and an entrepreneurial spirit, willing to wear multiple hats in a highly collaborative setting. The team is responsible for the development and implementation of test hardware and test campaigns for integrated vehicle testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
• 5+ years of hands-on testing experience.
• 5+ years in design and validation of hardware systems.
• 5+ years in a development environment
• 5+ years experience developing and executing test plans for complex aerospace, automotive or consumer electronics systems.
• 2+ years of scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C)
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum due to export control laws.

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience
• 5+ years of scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C)
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute test campaigns on complex systems.
• Experience as a technical lead, leading small groups of engineers through product development or test campaigns.
• Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations
• Strong organizational, analytical, and root cause analysis skills

Responsibilities

• Develop, augment, and support testing of components, from subsystems to the full spacecraft to determine suitability for flight.
• Lead the definition and implementation of organization wide test strategies to mitigate product risks to stakeholders.
• Work with avionics, payload and software teams to gather requirements, design test plans, determine applicable test cases, and prepare for test execution.
• Own vehicle level test campaigns and collaborate with responsible engineers, manufacturing engineers, software developers, tooling teams and ground support teams to deliver a thoroughly tested spacecraft ready for launch.
• Communicate fluidly across a variety of teams to identify product risks and how they will be addressed to ensure mission success.
• Develop complex test automation sequences using scripting languages such as Python and MATLAB.
• Develop innovative hardware and processes to optimize and improve testing capabilities.
