Sr. Satellite Test Engineer, Amazon Leo Integrated Vehicle Testing
About The Position
Amazon Leo is seeking an experienced Senior Satellite Test Engineer to architect test infrastructure and manage satellites through initial build, functional testing, and spacecraft validation. This role is crucial for preparing thousands of satellites for integration and launch. It's a fast-paced, intellectually challenging opportunity to collaborate with thought leaders across various technology areas, requiring high standards, a constant drive for improvement, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The team is responsible for the development and implementation of test hardware and test campaigns for integrated vehicle testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
- Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems.
- 5+ years of hands-on testing experience.
- 5+ years in design and/or validation of hardware systems.
- 5+ years in a development environment.
- 5+ years experience developing and executing test plans for complex aerospace, automotive or consumer electronics systems.
- 2+ years of scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C, etc.).
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum due to export control laws.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in development of test plans and protocols related to established Space Hardware test processes (GEVS / SMC-S-016).
- 5+ years experience with integration and testing of satellite hardware.
- 5+ years experience in a development environment.
- 5+ years of scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute test campaigns on complex systems.
- Experience as a technical lead, leading small groups of engineers through product development or test campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations.
- Excellent problem-solving, root causing and analysis skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop, augment, and support testing of components, from subsystems to the full spacecraft to determine suitability for flight.
- Lead the definition and implementation of organization wide test strategies to mitigate product risks to stakeholders.
- Work with avionics, payload and software teams to gather requirements, design test plans, determine applicable test cases, and prepare for test execution.
- Own vehicle level test campaigns and collaborate with responsible engineers, manufacturing engineers, software developers, tooling teams and ground support teams to deliver a thoroughly tested spacecraft ready for launch.
- Communicate fluidly across a variety of teams to identify product risks and how they will be addressed to ensure mission success.
- Develop complex test automation sequences using scripting languages such as Python and MATLAB.
- Develop innovative hardware and processes to optimize and improve testing capabilities.
