About The Position

The Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa in Stamford, Connecticut is searching for an energetic, driven, and passionate Senior Sales Manager to join their team during a major $50 million transformation. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a complete repositioning of an iconic property into a premier destination, featuring a Grand Ballroom spanning over 20,000 Sq.ft. The Senior Sales Manager will build rapport with clients, qualify their needs, sell the appropriate hotel services, book business (Business/Groups), and secure sales with contracts. This individual will focus on booking midweek corporate business and weekend business, ensuring all necessary information is available to service hotel business needs.

  • Hotel experience over 250 room 4-5 star hotel with 3-4 years of sales achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the overall market (e.g. competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand) and how to sell against them.
  • Close the best opportunities for Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa based on market conditions and hotel business needs.
  • Identify prospective new accounts through market research.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Regular competition analysis and feedback internally to the hotel.
  • Arrange and conduct customer sales presentations and sales call on weekly basis.
  • Responsible for developing strategies to increase market share from competitors, while working with Marriott Global Sales.
  • Negotiate guest room rates, function space and meeting room rental within approved guidelines.
  • Follow personal sales action plans updating on a regular basis where appropriate.
  • Build up good relationships and develop partnerships with innovative and effective strategies.
  • Forecasting – Most importantly, it is one of the drivers of hotel pricing strategies.
  • Action Plans/Problem solving- Collaborating with DOS & M, management team, sales team to identify issues of revenue generation then execute strategy over a specific period of time.
  • Accountability- Communicating actions & recording activities in order to measure efforts, implement successful strategies, and reward accomplishments.
  • Hold other sales team members accountable for similar responsibilities.
