Requirements

  • Three or more years of hands-on EHS or safety compliance experience in industrial, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or heavy equipment operations, including multi-site responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Arizona occupational safety requirements and federal OSHA general industry standards.
  • Familiarity with emergency planning, HazCom, PPE, powered industrial trucks, and injury recordkeeping.
  • Experience leading inspections, investigations, training, corrective action tracking, and document control.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with regulators and customers.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Ability to walk industrial yards.
  • Ability to work around operating equipment while following site safety rules.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish fluency is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to train or arrange effective training for Spanish speaking employees.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain site-specific accident prevention/safety plans, emergency action plans, fire prevention procedures, hazard communication programs, PPE assessments, equipment rules, and applicable permits.
  • Keep controlled copies of safety documents available at each site and maintain current digital backups.
  • Maintain an indexed evidence system for training, inspections, drills, audits, and corrective actions, distinguishing preventive records from post-incident actions.
  • Lead routine self-inspections, document findings with owners and due dates, verify closure, and prepare records for various inspections.
  • Coordinate citation responses with Corporate Safety and counsel.
  • Set and enforce site-specific PPE rules based on hazard assessments.
  • Coach supervisors and document consistent follow-through with employees and staffing agencies.
  • Oversee pedestrian and vehicle separation, traffic plans, yard and dock controls, and various equipment operations (forklifts, straddle carriers, reach stackers, yard tractors, trailers, shuttle activity).
  • Verify authorized operators, training, evaluations, pre-use checks, maintenance escalation, and safe towing/recovery procedures.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses for non-routine work, contractor work, and equipment changes; coordinate safety controls.
  • Maintain chemical inventories, accessible safety data sheets, labels, and hazard communication training for workplace chemicals.
  • Coordinate response plans for battery damage, thermal events, spills, and fires with site leadership and local responders.
  • Plan and document emergency exercises and evacuation drills.
  • Inspect emergency routes, eyewash/spill supplies, and fire protection interfaces.
  • Deliver orientation and recurring role-specific training in understandable language, using interpreters or bilingual trainers as needed.
  • Maintain training records, including rosters, sign-in sheets, materials, competency checks, and retraining triggers.
  • Investigate injuries, near misses, equipment damage, and unsafe conditions; preserve evidence, identify causes, assign corrective actions, and verify effectiveness.
  • Support injury and illness recordkeeping and timely regulator notifications.
  • Partner with operations leaders and staffing agencies to apply corrective coaching and discipline.
  • Track repeat findings and report unresolved or imminent hazards promptly.
