About The Position

The Sr. Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting a proactive safety and environmental compliance culture across all TSE sites by identifying and mitigating workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments and job safety analyses, managing incident response and investigations, and ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This role develops and administers safety policies, procedures, documentation, and training programs; partners with leadership, technical teams, and equipment manufacturers to improve safe operations; and serves as a key point of contact during onsite emergencies. The position requires strong technical judgment, regulatory knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration to protect employees, support operational continuity, and advance TSE’s commitment to safety excellence.

Requirements

  • Complete and maintain Safety Training according to the Safety Training Matrix.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus five years of safety-related experience.
  • Background and experience in Chemical Plant Plus required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Regularly required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to wear a full-face respirator and comply with TSE Respiratory Protection Program and Title 29 CFR 1910.134.
  • Employees with facial hair or other conditions that would compromise the facepiece-to-face seal cannot work in this position. Examples of these conditions include beards or sideburns that interfere with the facepiece seal or valve function; certain dentures or dental conditions; facial deformities (e.g., scars, deep skin creases, prominent cheekbones); or the use of jewelry or headgear that projects under and interferes with the facepiece seal.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and/or tour organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and manage corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
  • Perform and document Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analysis. Analyze industrial accident cases for use by company personnel, recommend mitigation strategies and manage implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Manage the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization used in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Formulate Environmental policies and procedures to be followed by the company or plant personnel in compliance with local (City of Pinellas Park - Air Quality Division), state (FDEP - Florida Department of Environmental Protection), and federal EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) rules and regulations.
  • Devise, manage, supervise, coordinate, and conduct training programs that will improve and promote safety awareness and proficiency in safe practices.
  • Implement and fully manage a plan for a total safety culture change, focusing on behavior-based safety programs and initiatives.
  • Confer with equipment manufacturer’s representatives and plant technical and management personnel to choose the most suitable plan on basis of safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Consult with all departments on design and use of equipment to improve and maintain safe operations.
  • Review EHS Documentation on an Annual Basis in accordance with TSE's ISO 9001:2015 QMS. Update & modify if necessary to reflect current practices/regulations.
  • Act as the Incident Commander in any incidents. This can range from giving first aid treatment, coordinating emergency services, cleaning up chemical or biohazardous spills, etc.
  • First point of contact for any onsite emergency.
