About The Position

UPMC Lock Haven is seeking dedicated and compassionate Respiratory Therapists to join our Night Program. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-focused environment while utilizing advanced technology to deliver high-quality respiratory care. In this role, you will provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions under the direction of a physician. You will care for patients across all populations and service areas, making a meaningful impact every day.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program required
  • Associate degree required
  • In lieu of an Associate degree: 5–7 years of relevant respiratory care experience or NBRC certification may be considered (not applicable in New York)
  • Minimum of 2 years of respiratory care experience, including at least 1 year in critical care
  • Must obtain and maintain Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • RRTs credentialed after July 1, 2002, must maintain ongoing NBRC credentialing requirements
  • Pennsylvania: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
  • Maryland: Respiratory Therapist license required
  • New York: Respiratory Therapist license and NBRC RRT credential required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR (AHA-compliant) required within 30 days of hire
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance (with renewal)
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Check (with renewal)
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory therapy treatments, life support, and diagnostic services
  • Operate and manage advanced respiratory equipment (ventilators, gas delivery systems, etc.)
  • Monitor patient responses, including vital signs, ABGs, and clinical status
  • Perform pulmonary function testing and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy
  • Respond to emergency situations, including code events and ventilated patient transport
  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams to optimize treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure equipment functionality
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to staff and students
  • May function in a Charge/Lead role as needed

  • Eligible participants receive an additional $2.00/hour night program differential, in addition to standard shift differentials
  • $15,000 (0–1 year experience) – 2-year commitment Sign-On Bonus
  • $20,000 (1+ years experience) – 2-year commitment Sign-On Bonus
