About The Position

Chevron Phillips Chem, LP is hiring a Senior Research Lab Technician within its Research & Technology division in Kingwood. The role contributes to petrochemical research through laboratory and bench-scale experimentation intended to improve products and processes. The technician works collaboratively in a team environment focused on innovation, safety, continuous improvement, learning, and mentorship.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Experience operating, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
Experience performing experimental procedures using hazardous chemicals.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Process Technology or another applicable technical degree.
Previous experience in a laboratory or research setting.
Ability to read and interpret process flow diagrams and process and instrumentation diagrams.
Experience with compression fittings and tubing, such as Swagelok.
Knowledge of and familiarity with gas chromatographs.
Knowledge and experience with continuous, bench-scale unit operations.
Knowledge of and familiarity with handling flammable and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

Design and execute laboratory and bench-scale experiments.
Design and construct experimental units, equipment, and apparatus.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
Gather data and evaluate processes and products.
Develop safe-handling procedures for chemicals and chemical reactions.
Perform basic mechanical work, including assembling tubing, fittings, and valves with basic tools.
Conduct sample analysis using laboratory instruments.
Prepare and submit samples for analysis and interpret results.
Maintain research records.
Purchase, inventory, store, transfer, recycle, and dispose of chemicals up to drum quantities.
Perform safety inspections, resolve safety issues, and maintain safety documentation.
Train and mentor new technicians.
Support and provide guidance on field trials.
