About The Position

The University of Pennsylvania, a world-renowned leader in education, research, and innovation, is seeking a Sr. Research Investigator to engage in bioinformatics research projects in biomedicine. This role involves both collaborative work and leading research initiatives within a lab that supports diverse projects in transcriptomics, proteomics, and functional genomics. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the analysis, interpretation, and publication of research findings, with a particular emphasis on candidates possessing strong quantitative and computational backgrounds. Prior bioinformatics experience is expected, and while experience in circadian biology, benchmarking, and data simulation are considered a plus, the ability to think deeply and learn new domains quickly is highly valued. The role requires contributing to manuscripts, presenting work clearly to diverse audiences, and demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills within an intellectually rigorous and highly collaborative group. Candidates should be comfortable tackling complex technical problems, taking ownership of their work, and continuously enhancing their skill set. This position is contingent upon continued funding.

Requirements

PhD and 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience is required.
Demonstrated programming ability (Python required; R proficiency expected), with evidence of writing clear, well-structured, and maintainable code.
Solid grounding in statistical methods, including regression and multiple testing.
Experience analyzing high-throughput biological data.
Ability to work independently on open-ended problems.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Training in mathematics, statistics and computer science.
Experience developing new methods or analytical approaches.

Responsibilities

Engage in bioinformatics research projects in biomedicine, both collaboratively and as lead scientist.
Perform data analysis and methods development.
Support a diverse set of collaborative projects and play a central role in analysis, interpretation and publication of research findings.
Contribute to manuscripts, attend conferences and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
