About The Position

This role involves all aspects of compliance with governmental rules and regulations on payments to healthcare providers. Duties include performing governmental and contractually required reporting, financial accounting related to governmental and contracted payments, serving as a liaison for audits of governmental and financial reports, and conducting analysis related to the impacts of changes in government payment regulations and contracted payments. Applications utilized include but are not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Adobe, Tableau, EPSi, Lawson/Infor, Kodiak RCA, Epic, MDHHS CHAMPS and HFS. Candidates must have a primary address located within the state of Michigan or be willing to relocate to Michigan to be considered.

Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare financial functions a minimum of three years (3).
  • Demonstrated data analysis and process improvement skills (reconciliation of accounts, variance explanations, accessing electronic data, identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy) and report writing of results.
  • Demonstrated completion of governmental forms, e.g. cost reports, tax returns, applications, or licensure.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expert and resource for team members on system applications.
  • Demonstrated efficient advanced Excel skills.
  • Willingly take on additional assignments and provide support to colleagues during high-volume or peak activity periods.
  • Demonstrated positive, solutions-oriented attitude while consistently putting forth reliable effort to support team goals and organizations success.
  • Knowledgeable or experience with general ledger process and financial reporting applications.
  • Employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of 3rd party reimbursement in a hospital demonstrating broad knowledge preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Medicare Cost Report, Medicaid Cost Report, payment systems, and audits preferred.
  • Experience with other payers and Revenue Adjustment estimation preferred.
  • Certified Cost Report Specialist or similar certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare and submit accurate, fully completed hospital and healthcare cost reports in a timely manner, including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE. Utilize multiple systems and data sources to gather, analyze, and validate required information throughout the preparation process.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, fully completed governmental related reporting requirements in a timely manner, including but not limited to Wage Index, Occupational Mix, and Geographic Reclassifications. Utilize multiple systems and data sources to gather, analyze, and validate required information throughout the preparation process.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly reimbursement responsibilities, including contractual estimate processing, revenue adjustment accounting, third-party settlement position estimates, and allowance reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results to management. Provide ongoing support for reimbursement-related initiatives and proactively recommend improvements to workflows, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Prepare accurate annual workpapers and support related to audits, tax returns, and reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
