The Sr. Registration Representative in the Department of Surgery is responsible for performing scheduling and registration tasks with a strong emphasis on detail. This role requires accurately obtaining and entering patient demographic, insurance, referral, and physician information into mandatory EMR fields. Key duties include scanning identification and insurance cards, verifying referrals, pre-certifications, authorizations, and patient prescriptions prior to procedure dates, all in accordance with Hospital, Departmental, and Registration Policies and Procedures. The representative will prioritize patient registration based on concurrent sessions, appointment times, patient back-up, and overall volume. They will also provide patients with clear explanations of forms and expected workflows, manage incoming messages and phone calls professionally, triage requests, and take accurate messages. Communication regarding wait times and documenting patient encounters are also essential. Preparation for upcoming patient sessions involves obtaining referrals and making reminder calls. Medical record and clerical functions, such as faxing, scanning documents into EMR, pulling charts, and filing, are part of the role. Additionally, the representative will collect, deposit, and log patient payments, reference insurance cards for co-payments, provide receipts, and close out daily services.
