  • Demonstrated fluency in the selection and operation of basic and precision inspection equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey findings and quality data to engineers, buyers, and leadership.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, including standard office software and electronic quality or ERP systems for documenting inspections and managing records.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inventory management and purchase order systems used in aerospace manufacturing or supply chain environments.
  • Basic machining knowledge sufficient to understand manufacturing processes and contextualize dimensional inspection findings.
  • Experience safely operating heavy lifting equipment — such as overhead cranes and forklifts — in environments where flight-critical hardware is present.
  • Familiarity with outside processing operations including heat treatment, plating, coating, EDM, and precision grinding, and the ability to review and verify associated process certifications.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certifications
  • Previous team lead experience
  • Passion and involvement in emerging inspection technologies

Responsibilities

  • Execute component inspections in accordance with approved inspection plans, verifying dimensional conformance, part marking, and full material traceability.
  • Perform receiving inspections on incoming aerospace hardware, raw materials, and assemblies using appropriate measurement techniques and tooling.
  • Review First Article Inspections (FAIs) in compliance with AS9102 requirements, ensuring all dimensional, material, and documentation criteria are satisfied prior to hardware acceptance.
  • Select and apply the correct precision measurement tools and methods for each inspection task, including hand tools, gauges, optical comparators, and surface plate setups.
  • Review all supplier-furnished documentation packages — including Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), Material Test Reports (MTRs), and inspection records — to verify compliance with applicable engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Initiate and document nonconformance/discrepancy reports with accuracy and completeness, maintaining full traceability within the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Provide engineers and buyers with clear, actionable dimensional data and inspection findings to support disposition decisions and supplier feedback.
  • Communicate inspection status, quality holds, and nonconformance trends proactively to stakeholders across Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing to minimize schedule impact.
  • Develop and communicate accurate inspection time estimates to support production planning and workload prioritization.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inspection inefficiencies, recurring discrepancy patterns, and opportunities to strengthen receiving inspection processes.
  • Work safely and professionally within an industrial manufacturing environment, adhering to all safety protocols — particularly when working in proximity to flight-critical hardware.
  • Provide expertise and ownership in purchasing, introducing, and training others on new inspection equipment.

Benefits
