About The Position

This is a key, full-time remote position responsible for reinforcing-steel estimating, detailing, and preconstruction support. The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource for estimating, project management, and operations teams while helping establish the company’s estimating standards, production rates, historical cost database, and reinforcing-steel preconstruction process. The role requires independently reviewing structural drawings and specifications, performing reinforcing-steel takeoffs, developing labor and material pricing, understanding detailing requirements, identifying constructability issues, and communicating project cost and risk to management. Periodic travel to project sites and company meetings is required. The position reports to the President / Executive Management. Responsibilities span rebar estimating and detailing, project turnover and operations support, and development of the estimating/detailing function. The candidate will prepare and review takeoffs, estimates, placing drawings, and bar lists; coordinate reinforcing steel with other design and project requirements; identify risks and resolve issues with project and field teams; and contribute to change-order pricing and cost analysis. The role will also establish procedures, templates, quality controls, and production-rate and historical-cost databases, help select estimating/detailing software, and mentor junior staff. The successful candidate may eventually assume responsibility for the company’s reinforcing-steel estimating/detailing function. The strongest candidates have substantial reinforcing-steel industry experience, including significant estimating and detailing or placing-drawing review experience. Relevant backgrounds include fabricators, placing contractors, detailing companies, and concrete or heavy civil contractors. A formal college degree is not required when supported by substantial relevant industry experience. Success includes independently estimating major bids, producing reliable tonnage and labor estimates, supporting project managers, improving estimating consistency, and building a scalable department.
