As a community, the University of Rochester is defined by a deep commitment to Meliora - Ever Better. Embedded in that ideal are the values we share: equity, leadership, integrity, openness, respect, and accountability. Together, we will set the highest standards for how we treat each other to ensure our community is welcoming to all and is a place where all can thrive. This role involves assisting in the nursing care of mentally ill patients by implementing various types of psychiatric treatment plans for groups of patients, including group interventions. The position requires delivering health care services to patients and their families according to the interdisciplinary treatment plan, and independently implementing this plan for an assigned group of patients. The technician will revise and modify the plan in response to changes in patient condition and therapeutic approach, and participate in planning conferences. Integration of multidisciplinary approaches to complete patient assessments and coordinate health care services across the continuum is essential. The role also involves demonstrating problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in developing health care interventions, participating in therapeutic activities, and collaborating with patients, family members, and the interdisciplinary treatment team. Additionally, the position requires participation in ongoing staff development programs, workshops, and seminars, as well as implementing orientation and training for peer staff, including new Psychiatric Technicians. Involvement in unit-based research and quality improvement, including data collection and documentation, is also part of the responsibilities. The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving an inclusive and welcoming culture.
