About The Position

The Sr. Proposal Specialist (P4) is an experienced individual contributor within Marketing & Commercial Operations, accountable for managing and delivering moderately complex to complex proposals from intake through submission. Operating with a high degree of independence and sound judgment, this role coordinates proposal execution, develops high-quality and compliant content, and supports proposal strategies that align with McKesson’s commercial, operational, financial, and patient-centric objectives. The Sr. Proposal Specialist brings deep functional knowledge, proactively identifies risks and solutions, influences cross-functional contributors, and supports continuous improvement of proposal tools, templates, and ways of working across the Specialty Health portfolio.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of progressive experience in proposal management, bid coordination, RFP development, commercial operations, healthcare, life sciences, or professional services.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional proposals with multiple contributors, tight timelines, and leadership visibility.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for proposal development, document formatting, and data presentation.
  • Experience with collaboration and CRM platforms such as SharePoint, Salesforce, or equivalent proposal management tools.
  • Strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills across concurrent proposals or workstreams.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to develop clear, structured, and customer-focused proposal narratives.
  • Solid business and financial acumen relevant to Specialty Health solutions.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners, resolve issues, and operate independently with limited direction.
  • Commitment to collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end proposal lifecycle for moderately complex to complex opportunities within Specialty Health, including RFPs that support revenue growth, retention, or strategic account objectives.
  • Develop proposal workplans, timelines, content assignments, and accountability checkpoints in partnership with Sales, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Business Development.
  • Apply sound judgment to manage competing deadlines, clarify requirements, identify delivery risks, and escalate issues with clear recommendations when needed.
  • Develop clear, persuasive proposal content, including executive summaries, solution narratives, response sections, and supporting materials.
  • Translate clinical, operational, financial, and technical input into customer- focused value propositions aligned to RFP requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Ensure proposal content reflects McKesson Specialty Health’s brand, value proposition, and approved positioning.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Sales, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Business Development to gather inputs, resolve content gaps, and support alignment on proposal assumptions.
  • Coordinate proposal contributors and subject matter experts, helping maintain momentum, accountability, and timely delivery.
  • Prepare leadership-ready proposal summaries, issue logs, and recommendation materials to support review and decision-making.
  • Support proposal quality and compliance by ensuring responses address RFP requirements, internal review expectations, and Specialty Health governance standards.
  • Conduct quality checks for completeness, consistency, accuracy, formatting, version control, and submission readiness.
  • Identify recurring risks, content gaps, or process issues and recommend practical improvements.
  • Share proposal best practices, lessons learned, and process guidance with colleagues and cross-functional partners.
  • Support onboarding and knowledge transfer for new or less experienced proposal contributors, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to improvements in proposal templates, tools, content libraries, and standard ways of working.
  • Identify opportunities to improve proposal efficiency, consistency, and quality across Specialty Health.
  • Apply stakeholder feedback, lessons learned, and win/loss insights to strengthen future proposal development.
  • Contribute to measurable business outcomes by supporting timely, compliant, and differentiated proposal submissions.
