Sr. Project Manager - Transportation
About The Position
Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its State Department of Transportation Client Center and lead growth of the Tennessee practice. The role provides direction and leadership to the Tennessee-based transportation team, supporting the firm’s strategic goal of expanding its services and client portfolio in Tennessee. It offers an opportunity to grow, lead, and mentor the local practice, with additional opportunities to support initiatives across the firm’s geography. The position partners closely with the Director of Projects to achieve performance objectives for quality delivery, profitability, and growth. The Project Manager supports business planning and execution, client development, project pursuit and delivery, and staff development. The role manages project scope, schedules, budgets, billing, and collections; provides technical oversight; and coordinates with internal leaders and multidisciplinary teams to deliver reports, designs, plans, and specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- 10–15 years of related experience in design and project management.
- Experience working with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
- Strong design and technical credibility.
- Excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Professional Engineer (PE) candidates are highly preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) candidates without a PE may also be considered if they have the same technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Support development and execution of the State DOT Client Center’s business plan in alignment with the firm’s strategic plan and annual performance objectives.
- Collaborate with the Director of Projects, Client Service Leaders, and Marketing on client marketing plans, pursuit strategies, teaming agreements, proposals, and interviews.
- Develop proposals and negotiate contracts.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, billing, and collections.
- Provide technical oversight of projects to ensure adherence to Barge’s Quality Program.
- Facilitate external and internal meetings throughout project phases and manage changes in project scope or level of effort.
- Develop conceptual design solutions in response to client goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with technical discipline leaders to develop project reports, designs, plans, and specifications.
- Direct and supervise assigned staff to manage workload, performance, and professional development effectively.
- Work with the Director of Projects to ensure key skillsets and capabilities support current operational needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to allocate resources firmwide and share talent and work across the firm.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
