About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a Sr Project Manager for our client in Albany, NY, 12203. This is a temporary contract assignment. The role involves interaction with Contractors and Customers, including answering technical or Program related questions, providing clarity on Program rules, and determining the legitimacy of customer complaints. The position also requires assisting team members with technical and code-related issues, primarily on Residential PV + Storage projects, updating the NY-Sun Solar Guidebook, and assisting with project technical design reviews. This includes reviewing project documents for accuracy, corresponding with Contractors regarding missing or rejected items, and performing technical reviews of Residential Energy Storage designs for compliance with Fire Code and NEC Code requirements. The role also involves reviewing Quality Assurance inspection reports and contractor responses to corrective action requirements. Other duties as assigned that contribute to the key outcomes of the NY-Sun team.

Requirements

Excellent communication skills
Experience in solar or electrical construction industry (having worked with or as a solar installer a plus).
Working knowledge of NYS Uniform Codes.
Ability to communicate clearly with solar installers, contractors, inspectors, and customers by phone and email.
Works well in a team environment.
10+ years of experience in the solar or electrical construction industry as well as working knowledge of NYS Uniform Codes.
Appropriate public-private partnership demeanor for this role.
Has in-depth analytical and technical expertise to act as duty subject expert in a technical or programmatic area.
Has demonstrated sound judgement based on extensive experience.
Has extensive awareness of social, economic and environmental contexts of energy technology of Deployment issues.
Recognized outside of NYSERDA as a known expert in the field.
Has demonstrated ability to develop and manage major complex projects.
Is the creative force behind at least one whole technical or Deployment area within a program.
Has demonstrated capability to build/maintain a new multi project program in at least one program element involving several interrelated projects to meet a technical or program goal.
Has demonstrated ability to obtain co-funding or leverage private resources for projects with little or no assistance from the supervisor.
Proposes new program directions and technical strategies.
Works closely with Program Manager in developing the Program and in developing junior staff.
Has consistently demonstrated the ability to put required level of program in place.
Is Authority resource capable of leading difficult technical and project management work groups and assignments.
Prioritizes, manages and self-initiates multiple assignments while consistently taking charge of work groups.
Has demonstrated ability to act as team leader and thought leader of interdepartmental working groups on complex and/or sensitive assignments.
Supervises the day-to-day work and structures assignments to enhance the development of junior staff.
Inspires trust and respect at all levels throughout the organization.
Has a well developed bureaucratic and policy sense.
Is able to identify, distinguish and maintain focus on primary objectives in developing program initiatives or resolving problems.

Responsibilities

Interact with Contractors to answer technical or Program related questions.
Interact with installers to provide clarity on Program rules, answer technical questions.
Determine legitimacy of home or business owner complaints, log on compliant tracker and work with all necessary parties to resolve issue.
Respond to emails sent to inboxes such as: [email protected]; Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Team Technical Resource.
Assist other team members with technical and code, mostly on Residential PV + Storage projects.
Code Official Training, online using Articulate.
NY-Sun Solar Guidebook Updates.
Assist NYSERDA's siting team, as needed.
Stay abreast of changes to major industry changes, for instance the release of changes to the National Electric Code.
Project Technical Design Reviews.
Review submitted projects documents for accuracy: project application, wiring diagrams, shading, site plans, and site photos.
Correspond via email with Contractors when there is a missing or rejected item.
Follow up on responses from Contractors.
Provide technical review of project designs, with expertise in reviewing for compliance with the Fire Code and NEC Code requirements.
Provide Quality Assurance inspection checklist modification.
Quality Assurance Corrective Action Response (CAR) Review.
Review the issued (failed) inspection report to familiarize with cited issues.
Review contractor response to determine if proof of corrective action is acceptable.
Approve (completed) or reject and resubmit (Corrective action required) contractor responses.
Other duties as assigned that contribute to the key outcomes of the NY-Sun team.
