About The Position

SPX Cooling Technologies, part of HVAC Cooling, is a leader in industrial HVAC equipment for large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants, with brands such as Marley, Recold, and SGS. As a Sr. Project Manager (PM), you will be responsible for managing all aspects of a project from order intake to close-out, including some support during the quoting and award phases. This involves ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while serving as the primary customer contact. Key responsibilities include customer relations, time scheduling, cost forecasting, progress reporting, managing consortium partners and major subcontracts, change order and claims management, project cash flow, and issue resolution. The PM is expected to "own" projects, protect gross margins by monitoring costs, and take corrective actions for variances. The role requires timely problem resolution, maintaining project quality, and adherence to schedule and budget. Project close-out involves ensuring all work, documentation, submittals, and final payments are completed. Effective communication is crucial for customer and internal resource satisfaction, with interactions guided by the Standard Work Process Map (SWPM, “EVACI”).

Requirements

  • Experience in the power plant or similar industry
  • Min. 2-3 years of project or construction management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business or engineering, or equivalent education and experience

  • Experience in accounting, engineering, construction management, and/or supply chain
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP
  • Project scheduling experience
  • Solid base of leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Engage in the Proposal Phase.
  • Set up and lead the SPX cross-functional Project Team, identifying project targets and assigning tasks.
  • Monitor Project Team activities and set up meeting schedules and communication rules.
  • Collaborate with related groups, such as EH&S, on issue resolution.
  • Manage projects based on size and scope.
  • Serve as the first line of communication with customers and consortium partners.
  • Maintain regular communication with major sub-suppliers, field construction, and internal departments regarding project topics.
  • Travel to customer or internal meetings (offices, job sites, workshops).
  • Manage contracts, interacting with all involved parties.
  • Maintain target project margins, forecast revenues, and associated costs, including POC and progress.
  • Develop payment schedules (cash flow plan).
  • Review project contracts, track deliveries, and process time and material orders.
  • Verify material costing and as-sold margin.
  • Manage project time schedules between engineering, construction, and supply chain resources.
  • Maintain accuracy of the Project Status Report and provide regular updates to management.
  • Manage document control and the DCL Document Control List.
  • Handle change orders and claims.
  • Manage project risks.
  • Manage insurance.
  • Identify and support continuous Operational Excellence (OpEx) improvement initiatives.
  • Initiate and drive a successful Lessons Learned process.
  • Act as an agent of the Company per corporate guidelines.
  • Manage projects in all countries where SPX does business.
