About The Position

Walsh is seeking a Senior Accountant for work in Westfield, Massachusetts. The Senior Accountant manages accounting for a mega-project and/or multiple large projects, working independently and maintaining good rapport with project staff, the business group Accounting Manager, and Controller. The position manages project accounting operations, including subcontract and invoice processing, cost reporting, profit and loss review, owner billing, and cash-flow monitoring.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business-related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting or a related field.

Responsibilities

Review and process subcontracts, subcontract change orders, and performance and payment bonds to ensure compliance with specified terms.
Collect and review project subcontractor and supplier lien waivers.
Collect, review, and process monthly subcontractor and supplier project invoices; ensure invoices are accrued properly and timely to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
Ensure proper payments to subcontractors and major suppliers.
Maintain a strong understanding of the Walsh cost report and accounting functions related to costs posted to it.
Understand the monthly Walsh P&L process, submit project P&Ls timely, and review them for accuracy.
Process cost transfers on project cost reports for Project Management staff.
Analyze monthly owner billing in depth and independently produce owner billing when applicable.
Collect, review, and submit monthly owner billings to the Accounting Manager or Controller for processing.
Monitor cash flow and communicate with project staff about tracking accounts receivable and when projects are paid.
Independently manage accounting operations for mega-projects or multiple large projects.
