About The Position

The Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health is looking for a Sr. Program Officer (SPO) to join project BESAFE, or Behavioral and Educational Strategies for Avoiding Falsified Medicine Exposure. This project aims at improving knowledge and practice of healthcare providers in dealing with patients’ exposure to counterfeit and fake medications. This position works cooperatively with the SPO II on program activities, work plan implementation, tracking, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, materials development, and knowledge management.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Applicants must have solid professional experience working with public health projects providing programmatic leadership.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of related program management experience in public health or medicine.
  • Advanced academic degree in public health (MD/PhD or equivalent).
  • Work experience in pharmacovigilance or research on quality of medicines.
  • Excellent facilitation, writing, diplomatic and interpersonal skills with an ability to be a strong presence in workplan meetings, data workshops, donor and stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic, technical, and programmatic development and implementation of survey and identify and source needed technical support beyond his/her technical competencies.
  • Work In close coordination with the Principal Investigator and SPO II to ensure quality Implementation of programs.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the donor in conjunction with the PI and SPO II
  • Coordinate social media presence in collaboration with Communications Associate
  • Provides support to SPO II and PI to coordinate technical aspects of Annual Symposium bringing together leaders, experts and professionals to discuss the burden of Substandard and Falsified (SF) drugs and explore innovative strategies for public health safety.
  • Work collaboratively with SPO II on all aspects of the proposal process from initial inception and search through to submission for all prospective investments. This includes leading all writing, including overall proposal structure, context and background sections of the proposal.
  • Operate with a high level of independent action in performing the aforementioned duties and is expected to model desired practices in knowledge management, communication, use of technology, and supervision and advocating for best practices.
