About The Position

This position requires the candidate to lead an onsite engineering team and manage the project. In this role, you will need to develop, oversee, and coordinate the cost/schedule/technical aspects of an ongoing engineering project within the program guidelines set by the Thompson Software Solutions leadership team and customer. You will review the status of engineering projects and budgets, manage schedules, drive execution, identify opportunities, and deliver results to the customer. You will assess engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. You will identify, track, mitigate, manage, and disposition program-level risks and opportunities. Understanding how to develop a schedule using Earned Value (EV) and manage a project using Earned Value Management principles is crucial. The role requires the ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment on quick reaction projects and will have regular contact with customers. The program manager oversees technical coordination to meet project goals and provides clear, timely progress updates to customers and leadership. This position requires up to 25% travel and candidates must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Program Management experience
  • Experience managing a program or portfolio of programs exceeding $2M
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Prior Experience using Agile Software Methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline
  • Prior experience with DOD project management or software development
  • Experience in software development and integrations programs
  • Control Accounts management
  • Scrum master experience
  • Ability to professionally communicate project status and collaborate on technical solutions with customers and peers
  • Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience as a Product Owner or similar role in product management
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Agile practitioner certifications (CSM, PMI-ACP)
  • Requirements generation experience
  • Familiarity with DO-178C
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
  • Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
