Production Operator - 3rd Shift - Altavista, VA Plant
About The Position
This position is based at Abbott’s Altavista, Virginia location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Abbott Nutrition develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages. The Altavista plant is a large nutrition manufacturing facility equipped with advanced production technology. The Production Equipment Operator safely operates, cleans, and helps maintain production equipment used to manufacture nutrition products. The role also involves maintaining records, ensuring adequate materials, troubleshooting equipment, checking product and material identification and dates, and conducting visual and offline quality inspections. The employee is accountable for meeting FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of prior manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in basic math.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some mechanical aptitude.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate, clean, and help maintain complex and standard high-speed production equipment.
- Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation.
- Maintain an adequate supply of materials for equipment in operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ensure products and materials have proper identification, correct codes, and expiration dates.
- Perform periodic on-line visual quality inspections and offline quality tests.
- Meet FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures compliance standards.
