About The Position

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Senior Product Software Engineer to join their video player team. This role is crucial for reimagining magical viewing experiences and transforming Disney's media business. The engineer will work on evolving streaming and digital products, powering advertising and distribution, and delivering unmatched entertainment and sports content. The team is focused on building the future of Disney's media business, reaching and scaling products that delight millions of consumers, and driving innovation in media technology.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in software engineering.
• 1 year experience working directly with HTML5 video playback (one or more of these technologies: MSE/EME, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Transport Stream, CMAF).
• Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent job experience.
• Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

• Proven track record at a senior software engineering level.
• Experience working with server-side JavaScript/Typescript in Node.js or Deno.
• Experience and expertise deploying web applications in any environment.
• 2 years or more experience working directly with HTML5 video playback.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement solutions for new and existing features that integrate with various Disney media services and backend platforms.
• Design and implement solutions for Disney Media Player, internal tooling, and related dependent projects to support product and team needs.
• Collaborate on the design of Disney Media Player, including requirements gathering, debugging, and integration support for internal and external partners.
• Conduct R&D to support Disney Media Player experiences, integration, and testing.
• Participate in planning near and long-term work as well as team agile ceremonies and meetings.
