About The Position

Disney's Identity Client Experience team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build login, registration, and account experiences used by Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ customers. The engineer works in Kotlin and develops shared Android SDKs used by Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ application teams. The role collaborates with product, data science, design, legal, and privacy partners to deliver measurable results. It is part of Product Engineering, which builds Disney Entertainment and ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Experience building Android mobile and Android TV experiences in Kotlin, with strong command of the Android SDK, application lifecycle, and UI with Jetpack Compose and/or the View system.
  • Experience shipping features behind feature flags or remote configuration and running A/B tests or phased rollouts in a production application.
  • Experience building telemetry to measure and monitor feature success.
  • Understanding of Android internals and how to diagnose device-specific issues.
  • Ability to deliver features with a high level of code quality, including unit and integration tests.
  • Effective communication with cross-functional partners across product, data science, design, legal, and privacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience owning experiments end to end, including hypothesis, instrumentation, rollout, readout, and ship/no-ship recommendation.
  • Hands-on experience with an experimentation or feature-flagging platform such as LaunchDarkly or an equivalent.
  • Experience working on login, registration, onboarding, or flows where conversion and friction are primary measures of success.
  • Familiarity with Android TV or Amazon Fire TV development.
  • Experience maintaining a large, modularized codebase.
  • Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini in Android Studio, or equivalent as a regular part of workflow beyond inline autocomplete.
  • Experience with privacy, consent, or regulatory compliance work on mobile, including GDPR, CCPA, or COPPA.

Responsibilities

  • Build identity experiences for Android mobile and Android TV using Kotlin and the Android SDK.
  • Design, build, and ship A/B tests and phased rollouts for login flows.

  • Build telemetry to measure and monitor feature success, and partner with product and data science on metrics, guardrails, and experiment readouts.
  • Develop and maintain shared Android SDKs consumed by Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ application teams.
  • Understand Android internals and debug and diagnose device issues.
  • Maintain code quality by including unit and integration tests with feature delivery, and perform regular code reviews to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Create and update documentation across the software development lifecycle, including integration guidance for partner application teams.

Benefits

  • A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
  • Medical, financial, and/or other benefits may be provided, depending on the level and position offered.
