About The Position

As a Sr. Product Owner, you will shape and deliver the technology experiences that power BECU’s retail channel—helping members access, grow, and manage their financial lives. You’ll own the strategy, roadmap, execution and ongoing evolution of retail systems across branches, video banking and lending solutions. ensuring seamless experiences no matter how members engage. Working at the intersection of business and technology, you’ll translate real member and team member needs into scalable, impactful solutions. Your leadership will help modernize processes, reduce manual work, and drive continuous improvement across the member and employee experience. Ultimately, you’ll play a key role in enabling BECU’s growth and delivering meaningful value to members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technology, business, or closely related discipline required.
  • 7 years of related functional experience in product ownership, project management, or development roles.
  • Research skills required.
  • Leadership and negotiation skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining vendor relationships required.
  • Proven ability to self-direct and identify business and customer needs and opportunities, overcome barriers, and formulate solutions with minimal supervision required.
  • Writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Expert knowledge with agile and scrum preferred.
  • 5 years of experience developing user stories and domain experience.
  • Product Owner certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for retail channel systems—ensuring alignment across technology, business, and leadership teams.
  • Oversee systems supporting branch experiences, lending solutions, and video banking, ensuring they are maintained, enhanced, and continuously improved to meet evolving member needs.
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, balancing “keep the lights on” (KTLO) work with enhancements and strategic initiatives to maximize impact.
  • Translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria, guide delivery teams, and accept completed work—ensuring high-quality outcomes aligned to expectations.
  • Act as a connector across teams—partnering with business leaders, product teams, tech teams, and vendors to align priorities and drive execution.
  • Manage vendor-supported systems and relationships, ensuring performance, reliability, and alignment with BECU’s goals.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and manual processes, then break down complex problems into actionable solutions that improve workflows and scalability.
  • Lead and participate in quarterly planning, capacity discussions, and roadmap alignment to ensure successful delivery across initiatives.
  • Incorporate feedback and insights from frontline teams and members to continuously refine product capabilities and resolve complex issues or escalations.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing to strengthen team capabilities and support long-term growth.
