About The Position

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Sr. Product Manager to be the technical spokesperson for a radiation product line. This role involves building product specifications from customer and market needs into go-to-market products, managing the product development lifecycle, and driving market adoption. The position requires a strong understanding of radiation physics, market dynamics, and customer needs to ensure products exceed expectations. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven ability to champion products from development to launch and effectively communicate with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelors and Advanced degrees in Science or Engineering preferred.
  • Strong background or knowledge of Radiation Physics or similar.
  • 5 or more years of applicable experience in product development or marketing of radiation sensors.
  • 3-5 or more years of experience in product launches.
  • CBRNE or Nuclear Safety market experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in development, sales, or marketing of technical products.
  • Proven capability to champion a product from development to launch.
  • High energy, direct, proactive with strong vision casting and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with customers, team members, and corporate management.
  • Ability to quickly reorient with new information and direction in an engaging market.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel and Project.
  • Must be strongly oriented toward consensus building and working in a team setting.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET level clearance.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

  • Technical research experience in the field of CBRNe sensors is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Define FLIR Detection Radiation Markets, including market strategies, product positions, price performance trade-offs, win strategies, and market trends.
  • Develop strong customer intimacy and understand market developments and government programs.
  • Define FLIR Detection Radiation Products by gathering and prioritizing product requirements from customers, industry experts, and government agencies.
  • Work with customers, sales teams, and technical experts to define features for new product development.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Manufacturing teams on technical feasibility and resource loading.
  • Define and manage the Product Roadmap for the FLIR Detection radiation product line, aligning R&D expenditures with business strategy.
  • Manage the FLIR Detection Radiation Phase Gate Process, tracking product development processes and budgets.
  • Set product pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals.
  • Participate in the generation of third-party lab data and operational tests.
  • Support company-wide go-to-market plans and oversee successful product launches.
  • Manage FLIR Detection Radiation Products by briefing and training sales teams and distributors.
  • Support sales teams with key customers and programs.
  • Determine product lifecycle and obsolescence.
  • Assist with market and product-specific technical writing, including technical product manuals.
  • Participate in thought leadership within the Radiation community by drafting journal articles and promotional materials.
  • Prepare weekly outreports on Project, Product, and Market Status Dashboards.
  • Prepare for quarterly project and product reviews.
  • Lead strategic discussions on Market, Product, and Feature development.
  • Present Radiation Product updates and strategy at quarterly Division review meetings and Product Review Boards.
