About The Position

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG-owned company, is seeking a Senior Product Manager II to own the customer experience for security detection and deterrence across the Vivint app and in-home displays. The role focuses on how customers see, understand, and act on what cameras and the security system detect, and how the system discourages unwanted activity in the moment. It translates computer vision and deterrence capabilities into clear, reliable experiences spanning live video, playback, clips, alerts, lights, sirens, audio, two-way communication, and monitoring workflows. The product manager partners with engineering, design, AI, camera hardware teams, monitoring operations, and customer care to define product quality and improve customer confidence in detection and prevention. The role also works with marketing and pricing on go-to-market plans, and establishes and reports metrics for adoption, detection quality, alert engagement, deterrence effectiveness, and customer trust.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience, including meaningful experience shipping consumer hardware-plus-software, IoT, video, or security products.
  • Experience working on video software, computer vision, AI-enabled experiences, live streaming, playback, clips, or event timelines.
  • A track record of partnering with technical teams to make complex capabilities understandable and valuable to customers.
  • Strong product judgment around trust, privacy, safety, and customer control in the home.
  • Ability to use data, customer insights, and operational feedback to size problems, prioritize tradeoffs, and measure results.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using AI-native product development tools across the product lifecycle, including agent-led discovery, rapid prototyping, lightweight code generation, design exploration, and collaboration with engineering to validate what should be built.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own how camera detections appear to customers across live video, playback, clips, event timelines, and alert surfaces.
  • Partner with AI and computer vision teams to define quality bars, prioritize improvements, and decide when capabilities are ready for customers.
  • Design experiences for uncertain or incorrect detections so customers understand what happened and continue to trust the system.
  • Shape how detections become alerts, deterrent actions, or alarms while balancing customer control with security outcomes.
  • Improve deterrence experiences involving lights, sirens, audio, and two-way communication.
  • Partner with monitoring operations to understand how event information supports alarm verification and response.
  • Write requirements, lead discovery, align stakeholders, and ship on a predictable cadence with engineering, design, and QA.
  • Partner with marketing and pricing teams to build go-to-market plans for new detection and deterrence experiences.
  • Set and report metrics including feature adoption, detection quality, alert engagement, deterrence effectiveness, and customer trust.
