Opportunity Overview As a Senior Product Manager – Optical Instrumentation & Automation, you will lead the strategy, definition, commercialization, and lifecycle management of high-volume optical testing solutions supporting the optical communications and E-O transceiver markets. You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Applications, Sales, and Operations teams to deliver innovative instrumentation and automation solutions that address evolving customer requirements and drive business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Overall 10+ years of experience with 5+ years of experience in product management or product marketing, preferably in optical instrumentation, photonics, or semiconductor test solutions.
  • Strong understanding of optical instrumentation, pluggable transceiver testing, and automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments and the unique challenges of optical communications testing.
  • Proven ability to define and deliver complex technical products in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in pricing, margin analysis, and commercial planning.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with strong time management and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the product strategy for high-volume E-O transceiver testing solutions, including both instrumentation and automation needs.
  • Define product specifications, features, and interfaces based on customer requirements and market trends.
  • Lead the product lifecycle, from concept and development to validation, go-to-market launch, and post-sales support.
  • Manage the product portfolio, including sampling scopes and general-purpose optical instruments, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to gather customer feedback on required features and functionality to develop winning products.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring their needs are reflected in product development and prioritization.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for differentiation.
  • Develop product specifications, collateral, pricing strategies, commercial targets, and price list to support go-to-market efforts.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Applications teams to prioritize software release planning, new feature development, and general product support.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure smooth product delivery and address specification or manufacturability challenges.
  • Create and deliver sales training materials, including product presentations, datasheets, and competitive positioning guides.
  • Support the Sales team in customer engagements, acting as a liaison between Sales, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Provide technical and commercial expertise to drive customer adoption and satisfaction.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote products, gather market insights, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and market trends to ensure the product roadmap remains competitive and innovative.
  • Represent Teradyne at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events to strengthen market presence and gather industry insights.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and market developments to maintain an innovative and competitive product roadmap.
