About The Position

AMD, Inc. is hiring a Sr. Product Development Engineer to develop and test electrical and electronic components and systems for semiconductor products, including CPUs, GPUs, APUs, and related hardware. The role uses knowledge of electronic theory and engineering principles to design, develop, and test AMD products. The engineer manages activities for a specific product or product group from definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Responsibilities span the product lifecycle, including modifications, upgrades, and maintenance. The position works with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing teams as products move into production and distribution. It also involves coordinating with Design and Yield engineers to develop production and characterization test flows, and debugging and validating silicon across different technologies. The work involves problems of moderate scope that require analysis of varied factors. Under limited supervision, the engineer exercises judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria. No travel is required. Multiple openings are available.

Requirements

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
One year of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role; experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
Experience with logic and circuit design.
Experience with CMOS transistor design.
Experience with CAD tools.
Experience with Verilog/VHDL.
Experience in Unix/Linux environments.
Experience with C/C++, Perl, and Python.
Experience with Linux/Windows internals.
Experience with object-oriented design.
Experience with Git.
Experience with a 93k testing environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and/or test electrical and electronic components and systems for semiconductor products, including CPUs, GPUs, APUs, and related hardware.
Design, develop, and/or manage activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life.
Develop tests and patterns, including early hardware characterization test programs.
Serve as a central resource for design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing as products move to production and distribution.
Align with Design and Yield engineers to develop production and characterization test flow content, and debug and validate silicon on different technologies.
Contribute throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle, including modifications, upgrades, and maintenance.
Apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD products.
Select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results under limited supervision and within defined company procedures and practices.
