Sr. Process Engineer Welding

Sedalia, MO. Analyze special welding processes to reduce scrap, improve efficiency and quality, increase productivity, address safety, and minimize maintenance for new passenger car and light truck steel wheels manufacturing. Conduct time studies to optimize process flow and manpower utilization. Oversee rim Butt Weld and wheel Arc Weld areas for steel wheels. Coordinate process changes, try-outs, and process capability improvements. Provide technical support to production lines and support/coordinate design changes. Lead cost reduction and Lean Mfg projects. Elaborate Engg Standard Work and provide trainings. Define process parameters and specs. Develop process docs incl. Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Inspection Plans, and implement new processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related field
- Three years of experience in weld process engineering for new passenger car and light truck steel wheels in the automotive industry.
- Experience must include arc welding processes (GMAW/SAW)
- Experience must include resistance welding (rim butt weld)
- Experience must include statistical analysis for process capability studies
- Experience must include lean manufacturing methodologies
- Experience must include six sigma and cost reduction projects
- Experience must include dimensional inspection instruments (calipers/micrometers) for quality assurance
- Experience must include working with ISO/IATF 16949 standards
- Experience must include engineering change requests (ECR)
- Experience must include FMEA
- Experience must include PPAP
- Experience must include Minitab
- Experience must include AutoCAD
- Experience must include ARAS
