About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing to join their team of qualified, diverse individuals at their Melbourne, FL site. The role requires in-depth knowledge of computers and electronics for mission processing, displays data storage, Networks, CDS/MLS, Crypto, and experience in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification of related hardware and software requirements. The engineer will be responsible for interpreting, allocating, tailoring, writing, and flowing down requirements to all levels of a system architecture. They will also design and develop computer, network, and system models and architectures, define interface requirements, perform hardware integration and testing, conduct requirements analysis, and collaborate with Integrated Product Teams. Additionally, the role involves conducting trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) regarding supplier current and future product offerings. The engineer will document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specifications, collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate mission management subsystems, and provide technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers. This includes development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration, and test support. The role also involves developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, statements of work, building supplier evaluation criteria, and conducting technical evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Active In-Scope DoD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Active In-Scope DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of computers and electronics for mission processing, displays data storage, Networks, CDS/MLS, Crypto
  • Experience in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification of related hardware and software requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering in Cameo or similar tools
  • Familiarity with network, commercial cloud, platform infrastructures and containerized software architecture
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes and environments

Responsibilities
