About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Melbourne, FL and will be based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule means you will get every other Friday off. This position has NO Hybrid or Remote work available. The selected Engineer must possess in-depth knowledge of computers and electronics for mission processing, displays data storage, Networks, CDS/MLS, Crypto and experience in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification of related hardware and software requirements. and will be responsible for one or more of the following; Interpret, allocate, tailor, write and flow down requirements to all levels of a system architecture, Design and develop computer, network and system models and architectures, perform hardware integration and testing, and requirements analysis and collaborate with Integrated Product Teams and conduct Trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) regarding supplier current and future products offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering in Cameo or similar tools
  • Experience in supplier/subcontract management
  • Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
  • Ability to review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design review
  • Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with network, commercial cloud, platform infrastructures and containerized software architecture
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes and environments
  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment
  • Experience engaging directly with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed manner
  • Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience AND/OR Certification with cloud and container management & security technologies such as VMWare, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Redhat OpenShift, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Nomad.

Responsibilities

  • Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams and specifications
