About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Engineer EHS to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in St Augustine, FL. The role involves reviewing and interpreting existing and proposed EHS regulations to determine applicability and impact on operations, and assisting with the implementation of EHS programs to ensure compliance. The engineer will partner with site leadership to continuously improve the culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS programs. This includes assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation. Responsibilities also include completing audits, industrial hygiene (IH) sampling, ergonomic assessments, and safety inspections, as well as creating and updating Job Hazards Analyses. The role participates in tooling design and project reviews, providing regulatory requirements and recommendations for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Assistance during accident/incident investigations to help determine root cause and corrective actions is also required. The engineer will prepare and coordinate EHS training and conduct instructor-led EHS training, and participate in regulatory agency and external customer inspections, following up on any resulting findings. Interfacing with employee-based safety committees, senior management, and other functional support groups to address safety concerns is key. The position also involves implementing EHS management systems, sector-level programs, and associated documentation to proactively eliminate or reduce workplace hazards, and supporting site environmental compliance and sustainability programs as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of occupational health and safety or related experience or Master’s Degree and 6 years of occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or related experience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by: actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources; consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems; mastering unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in occupational safety or industrial hygiene.
  • Previous DoD, Military or Aerospace facilities experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
