Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Engineer Aeronautical to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and will be assigned to 1st shift on a 4 day - 10 hours/day schedule (Monday – Thursday). The selected candidate will become part of the Liaison Engineering team within the Vehicle Engineering IPT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience.
  • This position requires a current in-scope US Government Secret Clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) prior to start. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Previous MRB/LE Authority for Engineering
  • Experience with TeamCenter and NX, Visualization Professional, or other CAD program
  • Basic knowledge of subsystems (electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids and propulsion systems) installations, composite structures, & metallic structures

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE ) (3-D model engineering definition)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, and problem solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Act as engineering authority for non-conformances supporting a restricted program
  • Perform timely dispositions for nonconforming parts, assemblies, and installations
  • Coordinate with a team of multiple disciplines engineers to determine effective solutions to defects that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives
  • Maintain integrity of the Material Review Board (MRB) process and engineering authority
