About The Position

Benesch is seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst for its Chicago office. This hybrid position offers work-from-home flexibility. The role is ideal for an individual who enjoys financial modeling and has extensive strategic pricing experience, looking to determine an organization's pricing and client value strategies. The Senior Pricing Analyst will work closely with the Pricing Manager and Director of Client Value & Practice Management to develop creative pricing solutions aligned with the firm's financial goals and client service objectives. Key responsibilities include analyzing complex financials, developing data-rich pricing models, and providing actionable advice for decision-making at various levels. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of legal services pricing, profitability drivers, and market trends, and collaborate effectively with partners and stakeholders. Continuous learning in legal industry pricing, profitability, reporting, technology, and data analysis is essential.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree
Eight years of analysis experience
At least five years in legal pricing or financial analysis
Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills
Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
Ability to apply market trends and best practices
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to partners, attorneys, and clients
Demonstrated professionalism
Sound judgment

Responsibilities

Participates in the development and execution of creative pricing strategies and client fee arrangements that improve the firm's profitability while delivering value to clients.
Leverages historical matter data to identify comparable engagements and develop defensible pricing, resourcing, and efficiency recommendations.
Collaborates with partners, practice groups, business development staff, and pricing team members to design a high volume of data-driven matter budgets, fee proposals, and alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) in response to client needs and RFPs.
Utilizes pricing technologies and analytics to automate analyses, extract actionable insights from large datasets, and improve the overall pricing processes.
Conducts post-matter financial reviews by analyzing historical matter data (utilization, realization, financial performance) to inform future pricing decisions and enhance matter profitability and performance.
Develops and maintains pricing tools, templates, and databases (including budget models, AFA tracking, and competitor pricing intelligence) and drive process improvements to increase pricing efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.
Partners with the Legal Project Management team in connection with approved budgets, AFAs, and similar complex pricing structures that require ongoing monitoring, reporting, and variance tracking. Outline risks and serve as resource for ongoing analysis of projected financial outcomes as well as necessary adjustments to enhance profitability.
Monitors market trends and competitors' pricing strategies to maintain awareness of industry standards and recommend adjustments to the firm's pricing strategy.
Trains and guide attorneys and staff on pricing best practices and tools, enhancing firmwide understanding of legal pricing, budgeting, and profitability drivers.
