Provide technical expertise and enhance the growth of the department through areas of staff development and training personnel in day- to-day operations. We are looking for Sr. Phlebotomist in the Geneva, Seneca Falls, Ovid, Clyde and Dundee areas.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Phlebotomy experience required
  • Excellent communication, word processing and computer skills required
  • Professional discretion and confidentiality required
  • Ability to work a rotation of shifts and work weekends and holidays required
  • PHEL - Phlebotomy Trained Phlebotomy certification or equivalent upon hire required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of Phlebotomy operational experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collects, registers, and processes patient laboratory specimens using a variety of collection techniques, protocols, and computer systems.
  • Follows rigorous patient identification protocols for all ages and levels of complexity.
  • Services patients and performs home draws at any assigned location, including Patient Service Centers, Clinics, and Nursing Homes.
  • Trains new staff and coordinates other necessary training, including program maintenance and development, orientation, and direction of in-house trainers.
  • Evaluates training progress and assesses staff competency. Documents and reports competency to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates the retraining of current staff when ongoing errors are identified.
  • Coordinates ongoing staff training and development.
  • Participates in maintaining the department in technical readiness to meet the regulatory compliance standards for New York State, CAP, and any other regulatory agency inspecting the clinical laboratory.
  • Ensures staff follow laboratory policies and procedures, including safety and security.
  • Works with supervisor(s) and other laboratory staff to plan for and accomplish departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Promotes and supports a positive team environment within the laboratory.
  • Continuously assesses work processes and suggests improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems.
  • Evaluates and implements new techniques and procedures that may be considered for process change.
  • Other duties as assigned.
